A dream project of many cities: the digital bus stop
For around six months, the conventional bus stop signs in Mainz have gradually been replaced by digital and interactive information columns. Now another milestone has been reached: the 100th of these information columns has gone into operation – and more will follow.
Real-time data, CMS, all from a single source
ST-MOBILITY not only equips the entire Mainz mobility network with dynamic information pillars. ST-MOBILITY is also responsible for the underlying content management system and the connection of the corresponding data in real time. Another highlight is the avoidance of additional power distribution cabinets. The info columns have been designed in such a way that the entire sub-distribution of each digital stop could be accommodated down in the base area.
New barrier-free accessibility achieved
The digital substructure has been designed so that the departure monitor of the information columns now displays the same text as that on the vehicle – i.e. usually the destination, the destination stop and any intermediate stops. This information is also available via the read-aloud function, which is another major step towards accessibility.
